Front-End Developer [The Night Kitchen Interactive]

Center City Philadelphia-based design studio Night Kitchen Interactive is looking for Front-End Developer.  This is an opportunity to become a key member of a diverse team of experienced, dedicated design professionals. Our core focus and our passion is the creation of innovative websites and interactive installations for our clients, primarily museums and arts and cultural heritage organizations. A nationally-recognized leader in the museum community, Night Kitchen’s clients include the Dr. Seuss Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. For these and others, we are currently developing mobile apps, large scale websites, and touchscreen exhibit interactives.

Day-to-day responsibilities include working with our design and development teams to conceive of and execute on the conversion of design treatments into working websites and interactive installations. The ideal candidate would have a strong knowledge of front-end coding (XHTML, HTML5, and CSS) and be comfortable working with Illustrator and Photoshop files, but also be familiar with jQuery and basic PHP.

While HTML and CSS skills are essential, an ideal candidate would also display an understanding of interaction design and user experience best practices and principles, graphic design principles, and would actively collaborate with the design team in formulating both the visual appearance and functionality of our projects.

Necessary Skill set:

Experience:

– 2-3 years experience working in website and/or interactive development preferred, but not required

– BS/BA in digital design, computer science, or related field

Duties

 

Duties include: monitoring coverage in both traditional and new media; writing for a variety of formats, such as press releases, newsletters, magazine articles and web publications; assisting in the planning and execution of news conferences. The position also involves working with partner organizations and government entities to promote 150th anniversary activities across the nation, placing a particular emphasis on social media.

 

Qualifications

 

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and previous experience in public relations or journalism. Excellent communications skills — particularly a knack for writing with precision, accuracy and impeccable grammar — are a must. Initiative, creativity and an eye for detail will serve you well, but a passion for American history is essential. Please note this is a part-time position with hourly wages.

Exhibitions Manager [The Rehoboth Art League]
