Manager, Curatorial Administration

 Regular Full-Time

Role:

Provides executive level administrative support to the Chief Curator and manages Curatorial Affairs Division administration. Responsibilities include research and coordination of strategic initiatives and other projects; general office administration and staff management; budget preparation/ oversight; and policy and procedure development/oversight.

Objectives:

  • Conducts and/or coordinates research; gathers information internally and externally and prepares primary analysis and synthesis of information
  • Monitors division’s financial budgets (preparation and management), reviews expenses, resolves discrepancies in consultation with the Chief Curator
  • Provides preliminary review of project proposals and regular reports presented to the Chief Curator and prepares primary analysis and synthesis of information, drafts reports and briefing documents
  • Manages the Chief Curator’s daily and regular activities

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years’ experience in a museum or cultural venue.
  • Directly related experience working in an executive level office.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex budgets and providing project management support.
  • Experience generating statistical and non-statistical reports and briefing documents.
  • Directly related experience with coordinating senior level management briefings.
  • Directly related experience developing and implementing office practices and procedures.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft office, word processing, presentation, electronic calendaring and messaging skills.
  • Broad knowledge of art history, current museum practice, and knowledge of related curatorial disciplines and practice an asset.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment an asset.
