Museum Development Coordinator

As a Museum Development Coordinator, you will serve as the development director for the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM). You will play a critical role in the museum’s ongoing efforts to raise funds that allow it to continue fulfilling its mission and strategic vision. In this highly visible position, you will be responsible for all aspects of fundraising, including major gifts, annual fund campaign, planned giving, membership, grants, and special events. Typical Responsibilities

Implement CSPM’s development plans in collaboration with the Development Committee and the Museum’s nonprofit board
Oversee earned income and marketing/communications programs
Ensure the CSPM mission and programs are consistently presented in a strong, positive manner to all relevant stakeholders and funders
Manage donor recruitment, solicit sponsors, and cultivate partners
Oversee development and maintenance of fundraising and record keeping systems, including donor management, research, cultivation, gift processing, and recognition
Identify methods to enhance and expand development capacity
Interview, select, evaluate performance, develop training schedules, and participate in disciplinary actions of staff
Provide direction to staff, approve time reporting, coordinate schedules, and maintain the efficient distribution of workload

Knowledge of:

Standards and practices of fundraising, donor recognition, record-keeping, grant writing, events management, and prospect research
Marketing and the link between public engagement and fundraising
Museum field or arts/culture programs
Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and supporting software applications
Proper English usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar
Ability to:

Speak before large and small groups
Be an effective and creative strategic thinker and planner
Adapt quickly to shifting priorities
Multi-task and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
Work autonomously with minimal supervision in order to achieve development goals
Contribute effectively as a member of the CSPM team
Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
This position requires proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), DonorPerfect, the Internet, social media, and other emerging technology used in a fundraising capacity. Excellent written communication, organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills as well as a high level of initiative, self-motivation, and detail orientation are also required.

This position requires the ability to work an irregular schedule including evening and weekend hours.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business management, public administration, or a related field. Five years of full-time responsible experience in a non-profit, museum, or related institution including two years of administrative or supervisory responsibilities. Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with donor relations, solicitation management, face-to-face solicitations, and grant writing. Experience with web-based programs, including spreadsheets, databases, and graphic design applications. Experience working in an arts and/or cultural institution. Trade association membership or certification, such as Association of Fundraising Professionals and Certified Fundraising Executive.
