Job Description
The Ohio Arts Association and Wexner Center for the Arts is currently seeking a Graphic Designer. This position will conceive and produce creative, well-designed, and institutionally apt publications, print and digital, and ephemeral materials in support of the Wexner Center for the Arts’ curatorial programming in all artistic disciplines, as well as for development, marketing/communications, and related efforts. Projects include–but are not limited to– electronic communications including web site and HTML’s; motion graphics animation for video assets; print ads; posters and flyers; direct mail communiqués; publications including the center’s bi-monthly calendar of events, programs, gallery guides, books; and signage including banners, stanchion and other interior/exterior signs, and gallery graphics. Work individually and as part of designated project teams under the guidance and supervision of the director of creative services. Participate in meetings with Wexner Center department representatives and other colleagues in the areas of marketing/communications and design to assess and discuss project scope and develop concepts for various projects. Develop production specifications for estimation of costs. Work directly with vendors through all phases of estimation and production. Hours vary including evenings and weekends. Successful completion of a background check required prior to start date.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in design or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Ability to handle multiple projects at once with outstanding “client orientation” and interpersonal skills. Excellence in visual communications and graphic design desired, experience in design and production of publications, front-end web design, motion graphics, digital photography, and promotional materials desired. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge is required. Familiarity with web/interactive design, and video/motion graphics production software (After Effects/Final Cut Pro/Motion) desired. Experience in photography, videography, and familiarity with digital photographic equipment and scanners desired.
