Volunteer opportunity for exhibition and cataloging
The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts was chartered on January 25, 1914 as the fifth Grand Lodge in the Order Sons of Italy in America. It is looking for help with its collection. The lodge is located at 93 Concord Avenue in Belmont, Massachusetts and supports over 75 lodges across Massachusetts and NH.
Part of the Culture and Historical Commission of the Sons of Italy of Massachusetts Grand Lodge mission is to preserve and display the collection of historical documents, regalia, photos and other artifacts.
Presently, some items are on display at the Grand Lodge in Belmont in one cramped room with a large display case for regalia, books and other artifacts. Some photos have been scanned in, but a cataloging system or online library would be welcomed.
There is unused wall space on the basement level. Knowledge of Italian is helpful and there may be an opportunity to involve students of the Italian language. The Culture and Historical Commission will work with interested volunteers and make the space available. This is a great opportunity to create a long term exhibit, involve social media and possibly a technological aspect.
