Description

The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History is seeking an energetic and creative individual for the position of Volunteer and Tour Coordinator.  Primary responsibilities include recruiting and overseeing museum volunteers, promoting and scheduling group and school tours, and providing outreach programs to adults and schools. The Volunteer and Tour Coordinator needs to be a creative team player and contribute to a wide range of museum activities including working ticket and sales operations of the front desk and museum gift shop. Applicants must demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills, and superior customer service.

This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals wishing to pursue a career within the museum field. This is a fulltime city government position with excellent benefits. Starting pay range is $13.25 to $15.00 per hour depending upon education and experience.

Requirements

The Volunteer and Tour Coordinator will be required to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule (although schedule may change to Sunday through Thursday or based on museum program needs). A bachelor’s degree is required along with basic knowledge of Civil War and Reconstruction, Industrialization, and/or Southeastern Railroad history. Education or museum experience is a plus.
