Description
SUMMARY
Develop, implement, and manage annual grant writing programs to support all Dallas Holocaust Museum programs, campaigns, and special fund raising initiatives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Write and submit grant proposals to family, community and private foundations and organizations. As well as government, corporate and other funders
- Work with each department of the DHM (Development, Programs, Education and Finance) to secure information needed to select grants for submission ahead of deadlines
- Write and submit grant proposals, including Sustaining Fund renewal requests, tailored to suit individual benefactors
- Conduct prospect research of individual, corporate and foundation funders including inquiry calls and online research for Annual Giving and Capital Campaign purposes
- Identify and evaluate grant prospects to determine areas of interest, capacity for giving, submission dates and requirements
- Track proposal results. Maintain and implement funding raising calendar activities, annual grants and grant files
- Assist in the development of annual grant revenue projections and cash flow forecasts
- Prepare mid-year and final reports for grant funders on program results
- Support CEO and Development staff with presentation of grants to donor review committees
- Cultivate relationships with foundations and current donors to ensure foundation giving
- Manage volunteer foundation committee who will assist in research and cultivation of prospects
- Research and write development newsletter
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Advancement Officer
Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, writing or similar field
Experience: Three years of related experience preferred
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Accuracy in written correspondence, record keeping, and ability to work under deadlines is critical
- Possess excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents and instructions, excellent grammar and strong research skills
- Ability to calculate figures and construct grant budgets
- Must be highly detail-oriented
- Experience and skilled with computer applications
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines
- Experience working with high level corporate volunteers and community leaders
