TheSan AntonioMuseumof Art is seekingan experienced and highly motivatedprofessional tolead theMuseum’s fundraisingefforts.TheDirectorof Developmentwilllead theoverallstrategic development operationsof theMuseum.Thisindividual will beresponsible for major gifts, grants,membership,annualgiving,planned giving,fundraising eventsandsponsorships.TheDirector of Development works under the direct supervision of the Museum Director and sits as a member of the senior leadership team of the institution. He/she works closely with Board ofTrustees and currentlysupervises a staff of six.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, administer and implement all fundraising activities.
  • Establishand maintainpositiverelationships withindividuals, foundationsandcorporate donors on the Museum’sbehalf.
  • Create a solicitation plan for individual, corporate and foundation donorsinpartnership withtheDirector, key staff, and Board Members.
  • Develop and update strategic plans for development and membership.
  • Develop and maintainforecasts of annual contributed incomegoals.
  • Ensuredonor retention through a stewardship plan that includesappropriate giftacknowledgement and recognition.
  • Ensure accurate and timely record keeping of all development and membership revenue.
  • Grow and strengthen a planned giving program.
  • Overseetheplanning andexecution of fundraising events.
  • WorkcloselywiththeDevelopment Committee of theBoard of Trusteestoadvancethe Museum’sfundraising efforts.
  • Provideoversight andstrategicdirection for theMuseum’sindividual and corporatemembership programs.
  • Workcloselywiththestaff and Board in preparation for a potential capitalcampaign.
  • Effectively represent the institution at both Museum and community events.
  • Create and manage a departmental budget.
  • Work closely with Finance to ensure timely and accurate reconciliations.
  • Manage the Museum’s travel program for constituents and major donors.
Requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’sdegree in a related field or study
  • Experienceand proven trackrecord ofsuccessin fundraising including solicitations for seven figure gifts
  • Experience with artsand culturalorganizations, especiallymuseums, preferred
  • Certified Fund Raising Executivepreferred
  • Competency in Blackbaud software products, specifically Raiser’s Edge, preferred
  • Minimum of6-8years’ experiencein successful fundraising, especially thecultivation, solicitation and stewardship ofmajorgift donors
  • Demonstratedtrackrecord in essential development skills:annual fund, major gifts, capitalcampaigns,corporate giving,membership and planned giving
  • Willingnesstotravelstatewide, nationally and internationally on occasion
  • Sensitivitytoand awareness of diverse,cultural, ethnic, and socialbackgrounds,valuesand attitudes
  • Evening and weekend hoursasneeded
