History Associates has an immediate need for a Museum Inventory Technician to assist in conducting an inventory, flagging inventory inconsistencies and tracking the movement of historical collections during a relocation project of a nationally significant museum’s collections storage facility located in Linthicum, Maryland. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. The anticipated start of this project is September 2016 and is expected to last for 8 months.
Alongside a team of museum packing and transportation professionals, and under the supervision of the Project Inventory lead, work will include verifying specific catalog fields and using handheld bar code scanners to track move-related activity across a variety of collection areas (objects, documents, oral history, publications, loans, film and video archives, photo archives, library, and institutional archives) into KE EMu collections management system. The position will involve both working independently and with other project and museum staff in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively communicate and meet strict deadlines while achieving accurate data processing and accountability for the collections. |
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in History, Library Science, Museum Studies or other applicable field (Preference given to Master’s degree in Museum Studies or related focus) General Requirements
