The Missouri Historical Society seeks two candidates to undertake a wall-to-wall inventory of its Objects Collection. The positions are full-time temporary (20 months).
Compensation: This is an hourly position, paying $16.25 per hour, plus benefits. Duties and Responsibilities The primary goal of this project is to ensure that locations for accessioned objects are accurately reflected in the more than 77,000 object catalog records on Mimsy, the museum’s collections management database, with any location discrepancies to be updated. The inventory team will also be responsible for reconciling any catalog records lacking objects (i.e., missing objects) and any objects lacking catalog records (i.e., undocumented, or Found-In-Collection objects). This part of the project will require in-depth research in the museum’s accession files (a.k.a., Item History Files). It is estimated that as much as 70% of the time will be spent on the reconciliation. The Inventory Technicians will work in teams of two under the supervision of the Collections Manager and Collections Management Assistant. |
