The Development Intern will gain insight into the inner workings of a small but active development office, experiencing a variety of tasks related to fundraising.
Under the guidance of the Senior Development Officer, the intern will assist with:
· Member event with an awards component
· Chairman’s Dinner and Awards Ceremony with silent auction
· Annual Breakfast in honor of the Marine Corps
· Monthly membership renewals/mailings
· Year-end fundraising appeals/mailings
Learning Component:
· Event planning
· Donor stewardship and cultivation
· Research skills
· Database software skills
Internship is open to college and graduate students or post-graduates. Specific work experience or credentials are not required, but a commitment to the work of a development office is necessary.
Other qualifications include:
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
· Ability to commit to a regular work schedule, 2-3 days per week, for a minimum of ½ day at a time
· Ability to participate as part of a team
· Ability to handle confidential material with discretion
· High attention to detail
