Phipps is seeking a full-time Assistant Curator of Horticulture to manage plant acquisitions and care of plant collections, lead the design and installation of horticultural displays, and maintain best practices to ensure the detailed maintenance of the Conservatory.  The Assistant Curator will actively represent Phipps at horticultural-related events and will respond to inquiries from the public on plant-related topics.

Requirements

The qualified candidate must have a Master’s degree in botany, plant science, horticulture or related field and two years’ conservatory experience.  Knowledge of the classification, biology and cultivation of plants plus demonstrated expertise in general horticulture is required.  The qualified candidate should have knowledge of a vast plant palette, ability to research the needs of individual crops and ability to suggest suitable plants to add to displays.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interaction with the general public are required.  Evening and weekend work may be required.
