- Researches, designs, and plans exhibits with staff; provides graphic layouts, working drawings, and budgets.
- Develops, produces, and coordinates the production of electronic and printed material to support and promote the exhibitions, programming, communications, and marketing initiatives of the Museum. Manages projects to completion.
- Designs exhibit modules, display cases, and other articles that are fabricated by the in-house shop. Plans and schedules fabrication and installation of exhibits.
- Plans, designs, and produces graphics and publications for the museum, committees associated with the museum, Friends of the Library and Museum, and other city departments. Work with City Communications department to ensure consistency of messaging.
- Designs and produces labels and signage for exhibits; produces original artwork including computer illustrations for exhibits and publications.
- Conceptualizes and designs images and text for print media and prepares documents and forms for printing.
- Assists in the production of video programming across all city platforms.
- Ensures efficient work flow of print projects including on-time delivery, monitors the budget and pursues opportunities for cost savings.
- Plan/re-vison, maintain, implement exsisting special events. Develop and implement new events with emphasis on young professionals and millenial audiences.
- Enhance and expand social media marketing programs leading to increased traffic/fans, communication about the Museum and visitors to the website.
- Serves as a member of the Library & Museum Services leadership team and Museum exhibit team assisting in developing strategies and plans for the department.
- Edit copy, develop and edit brochures, television scripts, and reports.
- Procures equipment and supplies for the exhibits department.
- Photographs and documents museum events, exhibits, and farm sites
- Establishes yearly budget for exhibits department.
- May serve as an Emergency Worker.
SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Generate new content and update existing content to promote the Museum’s programs, services and events. Partner with internal stakeholders to develop the content to increase visitor engagement.
- Provide ongoing metrics to track impact and effectiveness of programs.

- Requires Associates Degree in Graphic Design, Commercial Art, Visual Communication, Museum Studies, Advertising/Marketing, English, or similar field; Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Commercial Art, Visual Communication, Museum Studies, Advertising/Marketing, English, or similar field preferred; and,
- Experience: Requires three years of experience in graphic or exhibit design and print production; five years of experience in positions similar or related to this job preferred; and,
- Additional certifications in graphics and desktop publishing preferred.

- Requires solid knowledge in graphic design, color management, graphic formats, prepress techniques, scanning techniques, portable document format (PDF), copy writing, color proofing, and color correction.

- Expert knowledge of communication techniques for writing and editing copy for brochures, press releases, speeches, television scripts, reports, and various forms of electronic communication.
- Requires basic knowledge and application skills of carpentry and stage and lighting techniques.
- Requires solid knowledge and application skills in interior design concepts.
- Requires basic skills and abilities that involve manipulation of tools, equipment, instruments, devices, etc., normally requiring coordination with eyes, hands, and/or feet.

- Requires the ability to read and understand written information, and construction/architectural drawings. Ability to compose information and instruction in written form.
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
- Computers, printers, scanners, telephone, digital and 35mm cameras, desktop publishing software, art materials (i.e., papers, adhesives, etc.), commercial paint tools; limited use of carpentry tools including power tools, vehicles (van, truck, and golf cart).
WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
- The essential duties/activities for the position are performed indoors; the indoor work environment includes exposure to odors, fumes, dust, mists, gases, and toxic, caustic chemicals. Minimal work is performed outdoors and subject to prevailing weather conditions.
- Long periods of sitting, standing or walking may be required. Physical activities requires to perform the essential duties include frequent handling (lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling) of large, bulky, and awkward objects weighing up to 50 pounds;, working with 20-pound items at or above shoulder height, climbing, kneeling, and bending; reaching and handling; talking in-person and by telephone; sufficient hearing to conduct talking in-person and by telephone; constant seeing with sufficient near and far acuity, in low and bright light conditions, depth perception, color vision, and peripheral vision.
