Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  (NOTE:  The duties listed below are not inclusive of all of the duties that may be assigned to the position but are considered as essential to the nature of the job).

  • Supervises all museum professionals and operations staff consistent with Strategic Plan, best practice and American Association of Museum accreditation.
  • Responsible for fundraising including identifying and writing grants and other revenue sources (sponsorships, donors, etc.), cultivating potential relationships, and soliciting donations.
  • Serves as staff liaison and reports to the Board of Trustees, county management and county officials on all museum related matters.
  • Prepares and manages annual county and board budgets; ensures all accounting policies and procedures; exhibition planning and supervision; restoration and maintenance of historic and modern museum facilities are followed and maintained.
  • Responsible for partnerships and collaborations with public agencies and other organizations to market and increase community support for the museum.
  • Responsible for oversight and management of all building including modern and historic facilities.
  • Perform duties as assigned by Board of Trustees and county management
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires Master’ Degree in Museum Studies or related field of Arts, History and minimum 5 years museum experience.  Experience in non-profit administration, fundraising, grant writing experience, budgetary and supervisory experience desired.  Knowledge of best/current museum practices and standards according to AAM is recommended. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.   Must be organized and able to work well with the public and staff.  Must be able to lift minimum of 25 lbs.

The candidate selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL OR ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:  Minimum hazardous working conditions.
