The Director of Development will work closely with the Museum CEO and Board to raise private funds to support the mission of the National Civil War Museum. The successful candidate will create and carry out an effective fundraising program to help the Museum achieve its annual revenue goals. The key responsibility will be personal solicitation of major gifts donors and support for the CEO as he solicits his portfolio of major gift prospects, while working with Board and CEO to identify and cultivate major gifts prospects from across the country.
The DOD also will implement the annual fundraising program, including year-round membership marketing, a calendar of annual giving solicitations that includes personal solicitations, email/mail appeals, and written proposals and grant applications, and a limited schedule of fundraising special events. The DOD will serve as staff liaison to the development committee of the Board. |
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years fundraising experience in a non-profit organization with experience in soliciting major gifts. Demonstrated ability to personally solicit gifts at levels of $1,000 and up. Track record of success in achieving annual revenue goals and meeting established fundraising metrics. Willingness to provide 3 work references from senior staff and volunteers who have personal knowledge of the candidates’ ability to solicit gifts and consistently meet annual fundraising goals.
