This position is located in the Navy Museums Northwest, Museum and Collections Division, Naval History and Heritage Command. As a Museum Curator, you will ultimately be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the curatorial programs of the Puget Sound Navy Museum in Bremerton, WA.

As a Museum Curator, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Assisting the senior curator with the overall management and direction of the museum collections including the acquisition and display of objects associated with significant events, important developments, and notable achievements of the Navy.
  • Conducting research which encompasses the history of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Northwest from 1841 to the present.
  • Developing themes, scripts, labels and related scholarly material to support the creation and presentation of temporary and permanent exhibits.
  • Identifying, acquiring, and documenting current U.S. Navy equipment and operations which have potential historical significance.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of accessioning and registration procedures, artifact nomenclature, and computer databases to employ artifact information.
