Job Title: Head Of Interpretation & Innovation
Description: The Rubin Museum of Art is a dynamic environment that
stimulates learning,promotes understanding, and inspires personal
connections to the idea, cultures, and art of Himalayan Asia. Now in its
ninth year, the Museum welcomes over 175,000 visitors annually and has
6,000 members. The Museum¹s preeminent collection includes works of art
from present day Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Mongolia, Nepal,
Pakistan, and the Tibetan Plateau. The pace is lively with more than ten
changing exhibitions and more than 250 public programs a year. The Museum
seeks a Head of Interpretation and Innovation who will be responsible for
all educational resources presented in support of gallery learning for
audiences. The Head of Interpretation and Innovation will work with the
Director of Education & Engagement to create and implement exhibition and
collection related initiatives such as: interpretive didactics, explorer
area resources, and docent and guide training. Interpretive initiatives
will address overall Museum strategic goals and provide a bridge be tween
scholarly and general audiences. RESPONSIBILITIES: €Develops interpretive
efforts for public learning including gallery didactics, docent training,
audio tours, explore areas, etc. €Supervises Interpretation & Innovation
staff: educational resource coordinator, visitor experience coordinator,
and gallery program coordinator. €Collaborates with curatorial and
education staff to develop resources that complement the Rubin Museum¹s
collection and help participants form authentic and personal connections to
the art of the Himalayas. €Evaluates and revises program activities to
maintain excellence. €Conducts ongoing assessment of effectiveness of
interpretive strategies. €Leads staff training on the Museum¹s collection
and exhibitions. €Oversees coordination of schedules for museum guides and
visitor experience staff. €Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: € Graduate degree in related field (art history or museum
education) and 5 years of museum experience. € Knowledge of Buddhist A rt
