Our Mission: To empower students with high quality arts education that fosters culture and community while also supporting the school’s learning objectives.
Description: The Art Resource Collaborative for Kids (ARCK) is looking for part-time Teaching Artists to teach art integration in Boston Public Schools without their own art classes. Our Teaching Artists design projects based on our existing framework, created to challenge their students creatively. ARCK’s goal is to have students participate in projects that explore visual art, written and visual literacy while incorporating intercultural diversity and create connections with their school’s academic subjects. ARCK is committed to establishing compassion, respect, and building positive character.
Classes run in three, 12-week blocks throughout the Boston Public Schools (BPS) year at locations currently in Jamaica Plain and Allston. We are currently looking for a teacher to fill the remaining 20 weeks of the school year, every Tuesday from 12:30 – 2:30 pm. Qualifications: Must have a degree in Fine Art or Arts Education. BFA with a teaching certificate or an MA in Arts Education. Must have a minimum of two years experience teaching.
Must have knowledge of a wide variety of materials and command of basic art history/contemporary art. Familiarity with STEAM Education is a plus. Teaching artists must commit to take professional development proposed by ARCK. Must collaborate with classroom teachers and ARCK’s coordinator to create lessons based on school subjects and diversity projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Google Documents.
How To Apply: ARCK accepts applications on a rolling basis. All materials are reviewed upon receipt and kept on file for at least one year. Teaching artists being considered for the roster are observed and evaluated by ARCK program staff. We currently have an immediate opening.
Please submit the following: – A cover letter explaining your approach to teaching your art form and how your philosophy fits with ARCK’s. A lesson plan/curriculum with any age group K-8. A résumé that demonstrates your experience as a teaching artist and a link to your artwork.
