Duties & Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the design and implementation of a robust and innovative K12 portfolio of programs.
- Collaborates on K12 initiatives such as Prism.K12.
- Co-develops and implements K-12 outreach programs, particularly with DCPS, including Art Links to Learning.
- Coordinates all administrative details for Art Links to Learning.
- Innovates the single-visit school experience.
- Coordinates all administrative details relative to single-visit school experiences.
- Contributes to and provides support for Family Programs.
- Co-manages selected museum-school partnerships; represents the Phillips in museum-school partnership meetings and public events as needed.
- Cultivates and maintains relationships with DC public school partners.
- Advocates for Phillips programs and initiatives through online presentations, local, national, and global trainings, workshops, and conferences.
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure the smooth implementation of K12 programs.
- Collaborates on museum-wide initiatives.
- Collaborates on Education Department initiatives when relevant.
- Collaborates with Development staff on grant writing and reporting for school, family, and outreach programs.
- Maintains, synthesizes, and applies current knowledge and research on museum education theory and practice. Researches exhibitions and the permanent collection to K12 engagement.
- Conducts and coordinates trainings and public presentations, including periodic travel locally, nationally, and internationally.
- Hires and supervises part-time and contracted educators as well as vendors; manages interns.
- Creates and maintains organizational systems for school, outreach and family programs, including mailing lists, financial records, program statistics/reports, and database management.
- Provides departmental administrative support as needed.
- Maintains online scheduling software for school tour registration to ensure that schedules and reporting functions are up to date and effective.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- B.A. in art history, visual arts, education (museum, elementary, art), M.A. preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience, including teaching experience, in an art museum and/or school.
Familiarity with K12 uses of new technology.
General understanding of K12 curriculum (particularly visual arts, social studies, and language arts) and familiarity with structure of DCPS.
Understanding of Common Core State Standards.
Knowledge of arts integration.
Administrative experience with excellent office skills, including word processing, data entry, database/spreadsheets; previous experience with Outbound software preferred.
Highly effective as team member and collaborator with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent public speaking skills and ability to work with multiple audiences
Strong writing skills.
Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and handle numerous assignments concurrently.
Can work some evening and weekend hours.
