Description: | JOB SUMMARY
The Head of Museum Education and Public Programs will help to carry out the mission, policies and objectives of the Springville Museum of Art (SMA) and Springville City. He/She will serve as part of the Museum Executive team in the role of visitor advocate. This individual will be responsible for the interpretive and educational programs of the museum. |

Qualifications: | EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Applicant must be a graduate of an accredited university with a minimum of a Master’s degree in museum studies, art education, art history, humanities, museum or arts administration; must also have a minimum of five years of museum experience or arts administration. It is preferable that the candidate has published in the arts and/or museums field in a recognized professional manner. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES This is a leadership position and managerial experience is expected. The candidate must be able to delegate tasks and motivate educational staff, other professionals, and volunteers. Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, including careful copy editing. Needs to demonstrate the ability to plan, organize, implement, supervise and evaluate effective and innovative educational programs. Must have a high degree of computer literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, relevant design software, and social media applications. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Duties require standing, walking and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Climbing ladders and moderate lifting up to 50 lbs may also be required. REQUIRED TESTING Must pass a background check, drug screen, and physical. |
