This position performs major education, public programming, and public relations duties in the Education and Public Programs section of the National Museum of the United States Navy, of the Naval History and Heritage Command. This position is located in the National Museum of the United States Navy in the Washington Navy Yard.

This position has a basic requirement: Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position (i.e. museum education; history); OR a Combination of education and experience — courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study. In addition to the basic requirement above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Experience in teaching science technology programs and public speaking; 2) heading an educational program in a museum 3) experience with American Association of Museums re-accreditation process OR completed 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with coursework related to the work of the position (i.e. museum education; history).
