The Hermitage / Director of Education and Interpretation

Responsibilities include: Developing and delivering educational programs; oversight of recruitment, training, and supervision of department staff ; developing partnerships and curriculum with area educational institutions; working with the Lead Interpreter to develop and carry out interpretive programs; writing and administering funding proposals and grants; preparing and monitoring budgets
Requirements: BA preferred with major in museum studies, history, education or appropriate discipline; minimum two years. Two years experience leading a museum/historic site education department and a commitment to working with diverse audiences as well as ability to perform moderate physical work in a variety of weather conditions.
The position is full-time, permanent, with full benefits, including vacation, sick leave, medical/disability, and a 401K retirement savings plan. Salary is commensurate with experience.

The Director of Education and Interpretation is a member of the Museum Services team charged with implementing interpretive programs and a quality visitor experience for this 1120-acre historic site that includes two mansions, other historic buildings, archaeological sites, visitor center, and historic landscapes. The Hermitage is operated by the Ladies’ Hermitage Association a private non‐profit 501(c) 3 organization.
