Berkshire Museum seeks a dynamic, energetic, forward-thinking educator to join the team as the Museum’s Public Program Specialist. Working with education and interpretation departments the public program specialist is responsible for creating, designing, and implementing the Museum’s vast array of program offerings for the public. We are looking for an individual who will bring creative and engaging program ideas that embody the Museum mission and 21st century museum practices. As member of a small team of dedicated educators the public program specialist also assists in delivering programming for school groups both in the Museum and in school settings. A natural science background or love of science is a plus.
Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in natural science, art, or art history, museum studies, the humanities, archeology, or arts education. Master’s degree in any of the above a plus.

Skills: Excellent writing and public speaking skills necessary. Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision and in a team oriented environment. Must communicate professionally with administrators, educators, and the general public. Sense of humor and total enjoyment of work is an absolute must!

Experience: Experience working as an educator (formally or informally) with school age students, and/or the general public, in a museum or science center or other public program setting. Broad-based experience working with children and adults in educational environment. Candidates with experience developing public programs and/or with an natural science education preferred.

Other requirements: Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidate must maintain a current Massachusetts driver’s license, personal automobile insurance and a safe driving record.
