POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, along with three years of professional web production/digital content management experience in a collaborative team environment (five years preferred). Experience in a visual/performing arts, cultural, educational or similar setting is highly preferred. The web and digital media manager should also be familiar with video production; database concepts, data exchange formats, and metadata schema such as Dublin Core, METS, MODS, OAI-PMH, RDF, etc., as well as SQL, PHP, and ASP.NET. Must have knowledge in the following areas: software/website development methodologies, planning, and project management, including needs assessment, estimating, scheduling, approvals, deliverables, and quality control; website content management systems (knowledge of Ektron is a plus); web form and scripting; networks, firewalls, web security, and encryption; code compatibility issues with different browser types and versions; source code control and versioning tools; web-based multimedia format, including but not limited to streaming audio/video, mpeg, Quicktime, Windows Media, Flash video; Internet standards and protocols, including but not limited to HTTP, HTML, FTP, XML, CSS, W3C; and current developments and trends in website programming design, including social networks, blogs, multimedia, RSS, SOA, tagging, mashups, AJAX, and other web 2.0 elements and services; concepts and principles of usability, accessibility, interoperability, intellectual property rights, and privacy on the web; Adobe Creative Suite and at least one general purpose programming language (e.g., C/C++, perl, Java, etc.; major social media platforms; web analytics and/or survey data and applying search-engine-optimization principles.
