The Trustees of Reservations is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join the organization as a Grants Coordinator. The Grants Coordinator is a member of the Development team, reporting to the Director of Corporate, Foundation and Government Relations.  The position is a statewide role responsible for supporting the corporate and foundation grants process, and the yearly calendar of grant funders. The person in this position will work closely with Regional Field Staff, Program Directors, and Finance to contribute to all aspects of the grants process. The grants process includes research and qualification; budget and proposal development; database management and stewardship; and the timely submission of reports.

Responsibilities:

The Grants Coordinator’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Research:

  • Perform research on corporate and foundation sources to qualify prospects for corporate and foundation grants.
  • Research and compile relevant program information for projects and programs requiring funding. This includes meeting with or contacting various internal departments to gather information for case statements, letters of intent, proposals and reports.
  • Produce and maintain a yearly calendar of all private grant activity (including current funders and prospects) across the organization.

Proposal Writing:

  • Manage internal grant proposal approval process.
  • Create baseline written material for operating programs and campaigns, for use in statewide and regional proposals.
  • Write, review, edit and submit proposals and letters of intent for corporations and foundations following funding guidelines, parameters and procedures. Assist regional staff in the development and editing of grant proposals.
  • Work with Finance and other departments to compile detailed proposal budgets.

Reporting and Stewardship:

  • Collaborate with statewide staff to ensure compliance with corporate/foundation grant reporting as required by donors.
  • Oversee timely submission of reports to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs.
  • Maintain current grant records in database, including all tracking and reporting.
Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and experience in writing grant proposals with an increasing record of success.
  • Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Strong editing skills.
  • Strong contributor in team environments with ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated track record of setting and achieving goals, such as income goals.
  • Familiarity with research techniques for prospecting, and knowledge of fundraising sources.
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills in areas including Internet usage, databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.  Proficiency in Raisers Edge preferred.

Compensation, Hours & Benefits:

This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position that will preferably be based out of either the Doyle Center in Leominster, or Long Hill in Beverly, although other Trustees campuses may be considered. Travel (reimbursed) using a personal vehicle may be required to carry out some duties and responsibilities.  Some night and occasional weekend work may be required.
