The mission of Essex Heritage is to preserve and enhance the historic, cultural and natural resources of Essex County for the benefit of all who live, work and visit the Area(For more information about Essex Heritage visit www.essexheritage.org)

The Essex Heritage information desk is located on 2 New Liberty Street in Salem MA, in the National Park Service Visitor Center. This volunteer position offers the opportunity for applicants to interact with visitors from across the globe, and helps those interested in the visitor services field to get real world experience dealing with a diverse amount of people.

Qualifications:

  • This job requires a general knowledge of Essex County, especially Salem.
  • Must have some experience in visitor services, and be able to engage the public, give directions and information about various things to do/see in Salem and Essex County, while being professional and concise.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills. (Being able to look up maps and information for visitors, also using excel to enter the daily visitation statistics)
  • Promoting the mission of Essex Heritage.
