LGBTQ ISSUES AND REPRESENTATION EDITOR

Are you a museum professional who specializes in LGBTQ issues and representation related to cultural institutions? Would you like the opportunity to write about this topic for a museum-centric blog with other dedicated museum professionals? We are looking for a new LGBTQ editor at Collections and Curators and would love to hear from you.

All Editor Positions are currently unpaid, BUT this is a great opportunity to publish your research/informed opinions (rants) on a regular basis and you will only be expected to create content once every 3-4 months. Likewise, you will have the opportunity to manage guest contributors who write on LGBTQ-related themes, a leadership skill that will compliment your other career roles. SOCIAL MEDIA ASSISTANT

Do you love museums and cultural institutions? Do you want to increase your professional experience with social media? We are currently looking for a Social Media Assistant working with our Social Media Manager build the audience for our website, focused on museums and cultural institutions.

Must have excellent writing and organizational skills. Demonstrated knowledge of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and have the ability to write in an established institutional voice. If you are creative and willing to learn, this would be a great place to gain some experience. The position is currently unpaid but this is a great opportunity to build up your resume.

Morning Office Assistant [Creative Arts, Reading, MA]

Description:
Are you a morning person? Do you have a passion for the arts? Do you like working with kids? … Then Creative Arts may just be the place for you!
An Office Assistant is needed to open up the building, greet families, answer phones, do some light cleaning, and help out where needed.
Hours: Flexible, but looking for one or more people to open the building at 8:15am Monday-Friday various weeks during July & August.
Qualifications:
Responsible, trustworthy individual that can be committed to the hours scheduled. Must be a people person with great customer-service skills. Ability to accurately take messages and assist customers with registering for programs.

Fundraising Assistant (Volunteer) [Unbound Visual Arts, Inc., Brighton, MA]

Description:
Volunteer will provide assistance in all areas of fundraising to meet the needs of a fast growing contemporary art organization, including writing grant proposals and researching new grant opportunities and drafting solicitation materials and letters. Volunteer will also assist and planning and implementing fundraising events.  This is great opportunity for a volunteer to gain experience and contribute in many facets of fundraising and to see the fruits of their efforts.

Qualifications:
Requirements: Experience in research and grant writing, and proficient in social media and  good computer skills.  8 -10 hours per week in the office for a minimum of 6 months.  Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Volunteer Tour Guide and Docent [Paul S. Russell, MD Museum of Medical History and Innovation at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA]

Description:
We are recruiting new volunteers to help us meet the growing demand for our history tours, technology demonstrations, and school programs. Volunteers welcome visitors in the museum, lead tours of the historical highlights of Mass General’s campus and of the historic Ether Dome, and demonstrate our virtual dissection table.

Docents typically have one standing two- or three-hour shift per week; must have some flexibility to cover other shifts. Most of the shifts are during M-F 9-5 business hours, with some Saturday shifts. Must be available a minimum of six months.

Qualifications:
You can expect to work with all ages, with tourists and hospital staff and patients, with locals and visitors with limited English. No special background in history, medicine, or science is required – we will train you!
