This position is located in the Jerome and Dorothy Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and

School and Teacher Programs Coordinator [Senator John Heinz History Center]

The Heinz History Center, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and the largest history museum in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is currently seeking a full-time School and Teacher Programs Coordinator to become part of a dynamic and growing Education Department program.

The School and Teacher Programs Coordinator reports to the Education Manager and is responsible for developing education programs and tours that meet the needs of K-12 students, teachers, and home school audiences. This position is also responsible for the development of teaching resources that connect museum exhibits and collections to classrooms using digital technologies. This coordinator designs and implements opportunities for educator professional development workshops and facilitates partnerships with local agencies that serve regional social studies educators. The School and Teacher Programs Coordinator enables the success of education programs through the creation of content, supporting curriculum materials, project management and budgeting duties, and work with volunteer docents.

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education, history, museum education, education, or other humanities or liberal arts discipline. Master’s degree in Museum Education or Museum Studies, or experience equivalent to a Master’s preferred.

The ideal candidate will have at least one to three years’ experience with demonstrated skills in developing and implementing educational programs in an informal learning setting, writing curriculum materials, and developing and implementing participatory educational programs for educators; possess effective oral and listening skills and the ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultures, ages, and economic backgrounds; demonstrate excellent writing skills; maintain a positive approach to problem solving, collaborating with others, and in approaching new tasks; and have excellent project management skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office suite of programs.

A valid driver’s license is required.

Director, Audience Engagement [Museum of Contemporary Art Australia]

Located on one of the most beautiful sites in the world at Sydney’s Circular Quay, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia opened to the public in 1991, reopening in 2012 following a major expansion. Focusing on the work of living artists, MCA’s vision is to engage diverse audiences with contemporary art and ideas through the presentation of a wide ranging program of exhibitions and special events.

Reporting to the Director/CEO, the Director – Audience Engagement is a key member of MCA’s senior leadership team who work together to develop MCA strategy and shape the museum’s future.  This role also leads a team whose focus is on audience development across a range of disciplines. Combining relationship management with program development, the role demands both a strategic and a creative approach.  The position holder will develop the strategy for audience development and lead a portfolio of programs intended to sustain, engage and develop audiences, and generate revenue across creative learning, visitor experience and marketing and communications.

We are looking for an individual with the vision and energy to help shape some new directions for MCA; equally, we want someone with the leadership capability to inspire and motivate a committed and passionate team. Boston National Historical Park Seeks Volunteers

Boston, MA, (February 20, 2015) – Boston National Historical Park is recruiting volunteers with

a passion for history who want to do something meaningful and have a positive impact on the

hundreds of thousands of visitors expected to visit Boston’s National Parks over the busy spring

and summer months. Volunteers-In-Parks (VIPs) work side-by-side with National Park Service

employees and partners to share knowledge of Boston’s history and provide a friendly welcome

at visitor centers in Faneuil Hall and the Charlestown Navy Yard, and at other sites on Boston’s

Freedom Trail.

Boston National Historical Park will host a “Volunteer Open House” on the lower-level of historic

Faneuil Hall on Saturday, March 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with an opportunity to meet

current volunteers and park rangers and enjoy special activities, demonstrations and free

refreshments

“Volunteering with Boston National Historical is fun, it makes a difference, and it’s easy to get

started,” said Superintendent Rosalyn Fennell. “It’s a great way to meet new people, gain

experience, and give back to the community.”

Behind the scenes tours, continuing education learning opportunities, and special programs are

offered for volunteers only. Tax credits, senior citizens’ reimbursements, and, in some cases,

reimbursements for out-of-pocket expenses may be available. Volunteers are provided with

uniforms and professional training.
