Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts and Patrons Circle, the Development Associate of Individual Giving provides administrative support for the Patrons Circle and Junior Council membership programs, as well as the Major Gift Directors. This position is primarily responsible for executing mailings and e-communication to Patrons Circle and Junior Council members and related database entry. S/he is also required to support the fundraising efforts of the Major Gift Directors by assisting with outreach, cultivation, and stewardship; this work will predominantly entail back-office tasks associated with arranging tours, meetings, and small-scale events, as well as additional mailings.

The successful candidate will be able to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage the required workload with diligence, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications
Experience working in an office environment
Accurate and detailed-oriented with strong ability to prioritize and plan
Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
Fluent in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Database experience and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations, the Development Writer (Writer) supports the Institutional Advancement (IA) department with the production of a wide variety of fundraising and stewardship materials. The Writer will collaborate with other members of the IA team on departmental writing needs, including: major and principal gift proposals, stewardship reports, donor correspondence, case statement/brochure copy, newsletters, and other development-related special projects that may arise.

Primary Responsibilities
Write major and principal gift stewardship reports; responsible for conducting the necessary research and compiling the required materials, including financial information, to ensure comprehensive and accurate reports.
Craft donor correspondence, including gift acknowledgements, cover letters, and other development-related communications.
Collaborate with the major and principal gift teams to develop compelling funding proposals.
Edit various development materials, including research profiles, event invitations, and other donor correspondence.
Provide writing support for other development promotional materials, including case statements, funding opportunities, brochures, and other items as needed.
Compose donor newsletters in collaboration with IA and Museum staff.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years’ writing experience;
Must possess superb writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to describe complex scientific information in clear, compelling language and present concise rationales for philanthropy.
Ability to easily change writing styles to fit audience and voice.
Must be a self-starter, have exceptional time management skills, meet firm deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
Ideal candidate is curious, creative, highly organized, and detail oriented.
A high level of energy and self-confidence, a positive “can-do” attitude, and the ability to function at peak in a fast-paced, high expectation environment are essential.

Preferred Qualifications
Development writing experience strongly preferred.

Director of Major Gifts [The Army Historical Foundation]

The Army Historical Foundation is working in a public/private partnership with the U. S. Army on a capital campaign for the National Museum of the U.S. Army.

The Director of Major Gifts serves as a front-line fundraiser and member of AHF’s fundraising team.  Primary duties include establishing and managing effective relationships with donor prospects and existing donors, and assisting in building a successful fundraising program.

The Director of Major Gifts, under the supervision of the Senior Director of Development, will identify and qualify potential major donors, and design and implement successful cultivation and solicitation strategies.  This position will solicit prospects, and steward existing donors, and is expected to conduct 10-15 donor visits per month and manage a portfolio of at least 100 prospects.

Requirements:

•             A minimum of three years of experience in the nonprofit sector (or a transferable field) with a minimum of one year as a front-line fundraiser/client services representative preferred.

•             Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required. The incumbent must be comfortable working in a team-oriented environment, as well as a disciplined self-starter who is results oriented.

•             Regular travel is expected.

•             Bachelor’s Degree required.  Advanced degree preferred.

•             Military experience is preferred but not required.

Luci Creative is seeking a Senior level Exhibit/Environment Designer to work on Museum Exhibits and Corporate Experiential Environments. This position will report to and work closely with the Director of Strategy and Design and the Creative Director. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of creative environments and all areas relative to Exhibit/Environmental Design.

Essential Job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Working with clients and co-workers in a highly creative process and clearly communicate design concepts and development as a whole
  • Engaging in the complete planning processes and ideation sessions with clients and the Luci team.
  • Working with the team to establish design criteria and goals.
  • Responsible for managing and overseeing all areas of the project including budget, scheduling, and work flow
  • Taking a project from preliminary research to opening, and manage the design to fabrication process.

Job Requirements

The Systems Analyst works in the Office of Advancement for the Smithsonian Institution. The Systems Analyst uses advanced business analysis concepts and a comprehensive knowledge of fundraising management principles to resolve highly complex operational issues and meet the philanthropic objectives of the Smithsonian. This position is the link between the technical team and the system users, translating user needs to the technical team, and technical opportunities to end users, maximizing the utility of the Pan-Institutional Database for Advancement (PANDA). The Systems Analyst:

 

  • Applies technical and subject-matter expertise and business analysis concepts to identify, evaluate, define, develop, and enhance complex systems and procedures through research and an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. 
  • Gathers, analyzes, and documents business and user needs.  Develops functional and technical specifications. 
  • Designs and develops reports (quick ad hoc queries and production reports) and related analytics to support internal operations and programmatic data needs. 
  • Plans and executes all levels of testing (unit, system, user acceptance, volume) 
  • Leads cross-functional teams to solve complex business or systems issues. 
  •  

This work is completed using systems development life cycle methodology.

 

Qualified candidates will combine experience in nonprofit fundraising operations (prospect research, prospect management, gift registration, membership, biographical records management, individual giving, corporate and foundation relations, campaign management, online giving, annual giving), data management and reporting, and with systems development and implementation experience.Successful candidates will have strong interpersonal and communications skills necessary to work with technical and nontechnical staff, experience leading work groups, critical thinking, data analysis and design skills, attention to detail, strong Microsoft Office skills, demonstrated application of the system development life cycle and quality assurance, knowledge of SQL, an ability to manage multiple deadlines and completing priorities, superior organization skills, and a thirst for learning. Experience in using a fundraising database and six years of applicable job experience is required.

 

The Office of Advancement oversees and guides the fundraising efforts of the entire Smithsonian and is home to the central advancement organization for the Institution. In addition to raising significant support for a variety of Smithsonian initiatives, the Office of Advancement provides support services to advancement offices across the Institution. The office engages with staff throughout the Smithsonian in accomplishing their goals.
