Deaccessioning Intern [Fuller Craft Museum]

Fuller Craft Museum in Brockton, Massachusetts  seeks an intern to assist with Deaccessioning. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in a career in Museums. The Intern will work with the Registrar and Curatorial Assistant with all necessary paperwork and correspondence to donors and artists as well as helping to find an appropriate place for deaccessioned items. 
Qualifications:
College upperclassmen or graduate students majoring in Museum Studies or Art History or a related subject are preferred. Candidate must be a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational skills and a wide range of computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is a plus.

Stavros Niarchos Fellowship in Classical Art [Museum of Fine Arts, Boston]

The Stavros Niarchos Fellow in Classical Art will perform a range of curatorial activities in the Department of Art of the Ancient World. Projects will be determined by the department according to greatest need. Duties may include: research and interpretation, improvement of records in the MFA’s collections-management database, object handling, assisting with gallery work, and presentations to the general public.

This is a temporary position for approximately 3 months, during the summer of 2015; starting date negotiable. 35 hours/week; Mon-Fri, 9:00am-5:00pm.

Qualifications:
Advanced graduate student or recent Ph.D. in Classical art preferred. Excellent clerical, computer, and communication skills required. Attention to detail and accuracy a must. Applicants must be able to provide proof of U.S. work authorization at the time of hire.

Terrace Research Associate in Egyptian Art [Museum of Fine Arts, Boston]

The Terrace Research Associate in Egyptian Art will perform a range of curatorial activities in the Department of Art of the Ancient World. Projects will be determined by the department according to greatest need. Duties may include: sorting through archival material, improvement of records in the MFA’s collections-management database, assisting visiting scholars, assisting with gallery work, object transport and housing; other duties as assigned.

Director of Individual Giving [John F. Kennedy Library Foundation]

The Department of Development at the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation is searching for a dynamic, fundraising professional who will build on and enhance our individual donor societies.

The Director of Individual Giving will have primary responsibility for leading the organization’s annual giving efforts, setting strategy and executing fundraising plans for sustaining and growing the number of $1K-$100K annual donors, increasing the size of individual donations, and converting annual donors into future campaign donors.

In addition, the Director will be responsible for working with other staff members to revitalize the Foundation’s planned giving vehicle, The Victura Society. The Director will also support major giving efforts of the Vice President of Development and the CEO (as well as members of the Board), and assist with the annual May Dinner fundraising gala.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Schedule and conduct in-person meetings with donors;
  • In collaboration with other program areas in the department, develop and implement strategies for solicitation that will grow annual individual revenue;
  • Oversee donor correspondence and mailings;
  • Develop events and coordinate logistics with the Special Events Coordinator to ensure an exceptional donor experience, with a focus on cultivation and stewardship;
  • Assist with donor prospecting, including research, rating, and screening;
  • Assist the Vice President of Development in providing fundraising support to the Board of Directors;
  • Work with the Director of Donor Services to enhance donor recognition;
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of donor communications;
  • Monitor quarterly revenue and expenses related to Individual Giving; prepare regular reports on all appeal activities;
  • Contribute to the growth of our planned giving program, implementing new strategies and protocols to attract new bequests.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four (4) years in fundraising, or an equivalent combination of education/experience;
  • Experience with budgeting, planning and project administration;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including experience writing direct mail appeals, e-appeals, and feature articles, etc.;
  • Ability to handle diverse, concurrent tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Outgoing personality and ability to initiate and enjoy direct communication with donors and potential donors; customer-service orientation;
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office software; familiarity with Raiser’s Edge database.

Sales Associate [MFA Huntington Shop]

Responsible for customer service, sales, restocking and related retail duties. Position requires the ability to engage our diverse Museum Shop customer by communicating the features and benefits of our unique merchandise. Will also provide excellent front-line service to MFA visitors by answering Museum-related questions and enthusiastically promoting the Museum.

25 hours/week; 4 shifts per week consisting of 3 weekdays and 1 weekend day; may include occasional evenings and holidays.

Qualifications:
Must have an interest in Museum Shop products including jewelry and fashion-related merchandise. Must have a high energy level, strong interpersonal skills and an interest in the Museum of Fine Arts. Must be exceptionally personable. Retail experience desired.
