Educator and Reservations Manager, Bruce Museum

The Bruce Museum seeks an energetic educator for an active education
department who will also manage the department’s program reservations.  The
Museum Educator is primarily responsible for teaching inquiry-based, art
and science school programs for  both museum-based and outreach/Brucemobile
programs. The Museum Educator also coordinates the Jr. Educator Program
including the recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of the
high school Jr. Educators for the after school Neighborhood Collaborative
program with assistance from the Education department staff. Additionally,
the Reservations Manager portion of this position is responsible for the
logistical coordination of the Museum’s tours, school, outreach, and after
school programs including the booking of reservations, sending of
confirmations and billing for programs provided by the Bruce Museum
Education Department.

Teaching experience, and a Bachelor’s degree in education, science, art,
museum studies or related field, is required.  Valid driver’s license,
unattended mobility in object handling, and the ability to drive the museum
vehicles and visit facilities unequipped to accommodate the physically
challenged are necessary.

Seaside Center Summer Co-Naturalists [Bruce Museum]

Two seasonal, full-time positions, Wednesday – Sunday (except at beginning and
end of season, early June and early September). Begin June 4, and continues through
September 7, 2012. Responsibilities include the co- management and daily operation
of the center; supervision of numerous high school volunteers and interns; working
directly with visitors including the development and implementation of environmental
educational activities for public visitors and families; Bachelor’s degree in a science,
education, or relevant subject required; assisting in on-going research projects involving
the Long Island Sound; assist in the upkeep of the large marine aquariums and touch
tank. Preferred applicants will have teaching experience. Compensation is $15 per hour.

The Bruce Museum promotes the appreciation and understanding of arts and sciences to enrich the lives of all people. An art and science museum located in Greenwich, Connecticut, 40 miles east of New York City just off I-95 and steps from Metro North’s Greenwich train station.

The Bruce Museum seeks an energetic educator for an active education department who will also manage the department’s program reservations. The Museum Educator is primarily responsible for teaching inquiry-based, art and science school programs for both museum-based and outreach/Brucemobile programs. This encompasses ability to teach all programs as well as develop new programs with assistance of Museum Education Department staff. Additional responsibilities include maintenance of teaching materials and responsibility for the use of the Museum’s two Brucemobile vehicles (currently Toyota Highlander SUVs). Additionally, the Reservations Manager portion of this position is responsible for the logistical coordination of the Museum’s tours, school, outreach, and after school programs including the booking of reservations, sending of confirmations and billing for programs provided by the Bruce Museum Education Department.
