Adult Programs Coordinator [Peabody Essex Museum]

Description:
The Peabody Essex Museum is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate and collaborative Adult Programs Coordinator (APC). Responsibilities include conceiving, developing and implementing innovative public programs for new audiences, including adults ages 45 and under, digital/innovation audiences, and DIY/maker audiences. The position creates participatory programming aligned with the museum’s mission and connected to its collections and exhibitions. The successful candidate strategically identifies program types and formats that engage audiences, foster creative expression, offer multiple perspectives and access points, and create opportunities for the exchange of ideas.  The APC also spearheads strategic partnerships with outside organizations to secure presenters and connect to new audiences.  The APC works closely with internal staff to ensure smooth, efficient program promotion and logistics, and program funding and sponsorship.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree is required with graduate work in art education, art or museum studies preferred. 2-5 years’ experience coordinating programs and performing similar responsibilities is essential. Museum experience or familiarity with museum, arts and culture programs is preferred.  The ideal candidate will display a commitment to working with diverse communities and the ability to represent PEM and its programs in the community. Flexibility, positive attitude and the ability to work as a member of a team are essential.  Basic computer skills are required along with familiarity with operations of AV equipment including mobile devices. The APC must be able to work a varied schedule including weekend and evening hours.

Executive Assistant to the President/CEO [Boston Children’s Museum]

Description:
The Executive Assistant works individually and as a team member to facilitate the administrative functions and effectiveness of the President’s Office.  Specific responsibilities include maintaining the President’s calendar, budget maintenance, planning and executing business meetings, and providing support to External Relations, Development office and Senior Team as needed.  

The Executive Assistant is also responsible for scheduling Board meetings, assisting in agenda writing for Trustee and Board Committee meetings, preparing materials for Board meetings, and taking/ archiving the official Board Meeting minutes.  Must anticipate the needs of a busy office, show strong leadership, interface with Board and staff, maintain confidentiality and set priorities in accordance with the President’s strategic and management agenda.

HOURS:  Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.  Occasional evenings and early mornings required.

Qualifications:
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 2-3 years administrative experience preferred; Development experience highly desirable
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects under pressure, including the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Mail merge skills required.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge database preferred
  • Meeting planning experience preferred
  • Professional communications skills: strong telephone presence and advanced writing/proofreading proficiency

Maine Memory Network Content Assistant [Maine Historical Society]

MHS seeks a part-time (20 hrs/wk) content assistant for Maine Memory Network, a statewide digital museum (www.mainememory.net). This person will work as part of the MMN team and serves the requirements of the project as needed, including assisting the MMN curator and other team members. Will be responsible for working on projects that involve scanning and transcribing historical documents, cataloging records, reviewing all records added to MMN, managing the digital image archives, assisting and training contributing partners, and doing other production work related to MMN and the MHS websites. Seeking someone with an advanced history degree with experience in a museum or academic setting. This position is part-time, grant-funded. Manager of Youth and School Programs [Heritage Museum and Gardens]

Deputy Director for Education & Audience Engagement [Montclair Art Museum]

Position Description: From its founding in 1914, the Montclair Art Museum has been a vital presence in the immediate community and surrounding region. The Museum’s collection began with gifts from prominent Montclair residents that included both American and Native American art, laying the foundation for the Museum’s significant holdings. This pioneering spirit still reverberates in the Museum’s pursuit and presentation of high-quality art that characterizes and celebrates America’s diversity, including the recent launch of New Directions, a series of solo exhibitions of the work of contemporary artists and the cornerstone of MAM’s newly created contemporary art program. MAM’s collection has grown to over 12,000 works. The American collection, which started with a gift of 36 paintings from William T. Evans, comprises paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, and sculpture dating from the 18th century to the present, and features excellent works by Benjamin West, Asher B. Durand, John Singer Sargent, Edward Hopper, Georgia O’Keeffe, Andy Warhol, and Roy Lichtenstein, as well as younger and emerging artists such as Louise Lawler, Chakaia Booker, Whitfield Lovell, and Willie Cole.
