POSITION DESCRIPTION
The new MOCA is a flagship project of Cleveland¹s emerging Uptown district,
a major urban-revitalization project undertaken by Case Western Reserve
University; developer MRN, Ltd.; and other institutions in the University
Circle neighborhood. MOCA will serve as a catalyst for creativity and
growth in the area‹which is home to one of the country¹s largest
concentrations of cultural, educational, and medical institutions‹with
greatly expanded educational and public programs, as well as imaginative
collaborations with neighboring organizations and cultural partners.
Designed by the internationally acclaimed firm Farshid Moussavi
Architecture, London, the nearly 34,000-square-foot, four-story structure
is FMA¹s first major building in the United States, and its first museum.
The *Education Coordinator* supports all MOCA education initiatives and
programs including but not limited to K-12 school, teacher, and student
outreach, onsite group tours, docent council activities, university
collaborations, and education-based public events.

*Primary Responsibilities*
*K-12 and University Initiatives*
Assists the Curator of Education in cultivating MOCA¹s relationship and
any partnerships with Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) and
other Northeast Ohio area K-12 schools and educators
Serves as one of three project managers for MOCA¹s CMSD Immersion Project
Coordinates K-12 group tours and oversees the school group tours
calendar (including university tours)
Assists in the production of exhibition-related curricula resource
materials and hands-on student activities
Conducts school tours using approved VTS methodology and art activities
(training provided by MOCA)
Assists with and attends education events, professional development
programs, and other teacher and/or student-based activities
Attends appropriate events for area teachers to promote MOCA¹s education
program
Works with the Curator of Education, Front of House, and Event Manager
to coordinate and assign docents to school and group tours
Assists with tracking school group tour attendance and profile
information; helps prepare related statistical analysis and reports

*Docent Council Support*
Assists the Curator of Education with the MOCA Docent Council, including
recruitment, training, coordination, communication, and retention
Provides general clerical support for docent-related activities and tour
scheduling
General Programs Support
Updates and maintains the Programs calendar and departmental electronic
files
Manages or assists with public programs as assigned, including but not
limited to family programs, education workshops, entertainment programs,
and social events
Assists in the development and execution of evaluation methods for
public programs
Assists in content development for media-based interpretive education
materials
Provides general clerical support for the Programs Department as needed

*Qualifications*
– Excellent skills in organization, communication (both verbal and
written), project management, and customer service.
– Collaborative nature and ability to interact with all levels of
management, staff, and the public.
– Experience with public speaking
– Previous experience in an educational environment
– Experience working directly with children and/or teenagers.
– Bachelor¹s Degree, preferably in Art Education, Education, Art
History, or Studio Art
– Clerical skills including filing, note taking, scheduling, and
correspondence
– Computer competency and skills in software like Microsoft Office and
Google Apps
– Accommodate a non-traditional schedule including weekend and evening
availability
