As a volunteer with us you will gain the chance to meet a variety of people, make friends, learn new skills and experience the complexities of working in this unique house museum. We are currently looking for volunteers to help assist our front-of-house staff with room interpretation and offer visitors the chance to view newly restored areas of the house. This summer the Museum will see improved visitor facilities, the creation of a new Exhibition Gallery, Conservation Studios, and improvements that will allow full disabled access to the Museum – and that is just the start!

Volunteer Warders
An exciting opportunity for you to get involved in the work of the Sir John Soane’s Museum and become an integral part of our team. Working alongside knowledgeable and experienced members of museum staff, you will be responsible for key front-of-house activities and providing visitors with a warm welcome to the Soane Museum. Curatorial Placements
Our curatorial volunteer program is intended for young people who seriously intend to take up a career in museums. In order to gain a good working knowledge of the Museum we try to provide a balanced program of work which includes curatorial projects as well as routine tasks that make a real contribution to the Museum. Work Experience Placements
We offer a limited number of work experience placements throughout the year; our main focus is towards year 10 students from inner London schools. Students should be interested in architecture, history and works of art and will ideally be someone intending to do a degree and considering a future career in museums.
