The Cambridge Compact for a Sustainable Future was launched in 2013 by the City of Cambridge, Harvard, MIT and multiple large businesses to leverage the intellectual and entrepreneurial capacity of the business, non-profit, education, and municipal sectors in Cambridge to contribute to a healthy, livable and sustainable future. The Coordinator will assist the Deputy City Manager and current chair of the Compact in coordinating the activities of the Compact, including performing research and developing projects; soliciting agenda items and drafting agendas; convening meetings and coordinating other members activities; creating social media and other content; writing reports; and performing other duties as needed.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Perform research and develop projects materials to be used by Compact members.
- Engage with senior city staff to develop projects and coordinate participation in Compact activities across multiple city departments.
- Coordinate Compact meetings, resources, and communication.
- Work with Compact members to identify Steering Committee and Board meeting dates and times.
- Assist in creating agendas, taking notes and producing meeting minutes.
- Serve as liaison and maintain communication among Compact members.
- Facilitate and organize Compact-related meetings and events.
- Create print, web, and social media content related to Compact activities.
- Assist in developing and producing annual report.
- Perform other duties as required.
The Coordinator should be familiar with climate change and sustainability policies and programs. Must be able to work with a wide variety of people, coordinate projects, and manage administrative, research and project responsibilities required. Should possess excellent project management, organizational, communication, presentation, computer, and writing skills. Minimum of two years of related professional experience and a related Bachelor’s degree required, advanced level coursework strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills, and ability to multi-task while remaining organized
- Must be able to work independently, as a proactive team player
- Experience in staffing committees or similar organizations with diverse membership
- Understanding of climate change and sustainability
- Experience working in both the private and public sectors a plus
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience with computers, software and social media
- Knowledge of the Cambridge community
$25.00 per hour, up to 15 hours per week
