Energy Conservation Manager, Austin Community College (Austin, TX)

The Energy Conservation Manager will be responsible for analyzing current energy usage and developing the district’s energy management plan in order to provide quality learning environment with cost effective energy utilization.The Energy Conservation Manager will collaborate with all College constituencies to develop a working model for the integration of energy management and other sustainable concepts and practices into the operations of the College.  The Energy Conservation Manager will be tasked with advancing the energy component of ACC’s Climate Action Plan. The Energy Conservation Manager will work in collaboration with various departments across the district, including Building & Grounds Department, Facilities Department & outside vendors and contractors and students.  The Energy Conservation Manager will identify desirable energy conservation initiatives; assess cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and impact; and gain acceptance by the College Community.

Assistant Program Officer, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (Boston, MA)

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a dynamic Assistant Program Officer (APO) that will fill a variety of roles at Boston LISC, including working with the Senior Program Officer for the Green Retrofit Initiative to help affordable housing owners understand energy use in their buildings and work toward implementing energy-saving retrofits. The APO will organize Green Retrofit Initiative network meetings, workshops and forums, work closely with the Initiative’s consultants and partners, and support participating organizations to ensure program goals are met.

Tufts Sustainability Program Intern

Position Description:

The Tufts Office of Sustainability is seeking an undergraduate student intern to work during new student orientation in the Fall of 2015 through the 2015-16 academic year. This position will assist with day-to-day office activities and projects, such as planning and gathering materials for events and creating documents and outreach materials. The program intern will also help support office programs such as the student Eco-Reps, employee Eco-Ambassadors, and the Green Office Certification program. The student will be expected to research and support sustainability initiatives that might be undertaken on any of Tufts’ three campuses (Boston, Medford, Grafton) and to help the Program Director, Education & Outreach Program Administrator, and Communications Specialist with any projects they are currently working on.

Hours & Timeframe:

The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate student who can work both during new student orientation in Fall 2015 through the 2015-16 academic year. Interns typically work ~8 hours per week during the academic year, though hours may be longer during orientation.

Director of Sustainability, Swarthmore College (Swarthmore, PA)

Swarthmore College invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Sustainability. Reporting directly to the President of the College, the Director will lead the College’s sustainability efforts, developing and implementing policies and programs to mitigate the College’s environmental impact and to build awareness of the connection between issues of sustainability and social justice. This includes helping to establish Swarthmore as a recognized leader in integrating sustainability into all aspects of the educational mission, operations, and institutional and community life/culture. The Director of Sustainability provides leadership to the many distinct sustainability efforts on campus and fosters a culture of sustainability among students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, and the Board of Managers.

The successful candidate will be innovative and collaborative with excellent strategic, leadership, and team-building skills and will have broad knowledge of sustainability principles, best practices, and their application in the higher education/institutional environment. The new Director will be able to engage effectively with the academic and scholarly research work of the faculty and with the policies, practices, and goals of campus operations and student sustainability activities. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to the values and goals of Swarthmore’s private, residential liberal arts education and a desire to be an active and engaged member of the community.
