The Director of Programs & Education will play a leading role within the organization and the industry in helping to deliver impactful and actionable events, webinars, products and resources to help better inform the industry and relevant stakeholders. This position will be responsible for ongoing management of multiple established events throughout the year that bring together thousands of participants. The DPE will also be responsible for augmenting the value of membership in our trade association by developing new resources, facilitating industry collaboration, and creating new avenues for engagement that will help to extend the value that our members derive from our organization.

The Goodnight Family Sustainable Development Department at Appalachian State University invites applications for the position of Department Chair, beginning July 1, 2016. Qualified candidates will have an earned doctoral degree in a discipline related to sustainable development and a record of excellence in teaching and scholarly achievements commensurate with appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

The Senior Regional Transportation Planner will work closely with municipal officials and state agencies to conduct place-based and regional studies that combine transportation and land use recommendations to advance smart growth goals of mixed-use development near transit with streetscapes that are walkable and bikable. These projects will include the following aspects: regional demographic and data analyses, traffic mitigation concepts and transportation demand management, bike and pedestrian improvements, zoning and urban design recommendations to support transit oriented development, parking management concepts, and transit service recommendations. This work is conducted in both urban and suburban settings, and with multiple stakeholders.

Reporting to the Director of Campus Planning & Development or designee, this position is responsible for supporting the full range of campus planning functions, with an emphasis on planning analysis and space planning; capital projects, including feasibility assessment, programming and design; and planning that supports a more sustainable campus environment.

The Communications Assistant will work with GDAE’s Outreach Coordinator to help maintain and expand our outreach efforts. Job duties will include: assist with event planning, design flyers and outreach  materials, track media mentions, help maintain email subscriber database in MailChimp, and other projects as assigned.
