Food and Farm Fellow, Luther College, (Decorah, IA)

Luther College is currently accepting applications for the position of Food and Farm Fellow in the Center for Sustainable Communities. This is a ten month, full-time, 40 hour/week, position starting February 1, 2016 and ending November 30, 2016. This Fellow will be responsible for day to day operations at the college farm, including student supervision, management of the community garden and carrying out plans for the 2016 season. Additional responsibilities will include marketing and communication, coordinating volunteer opportunities and tours, managing logistics for the Cafeteria to Community Program, implementing composting initiatives, coordinating food education classes and other duties as assigned.

Outdoor/Environmental Education Fellow, Luther College, (Decorah, IA)

Responsibilities include planning, teaching and supervising environmentally focused programs and trips for Luther college students and regional youth (preK-12 grade), including summer camp programming, precollege courses and incoming freshman student trips. Assist with development and training of Luther College student trip leaders. Coordinate weekend tripping programs for Luther students. Plan and coordinate a fall break trip for Luther students. Aid in the development of program evaluation and staff manuals related to policy and risk management procedures. Visiting Assistant Professor of Environmental Policy, Amherst College, (Amherst, MA)

The Department of Environmental Studies at Amherst College invites applications for a visiting position at the assistant professor level in the area of environmental policy.  This is a two-year position, beginning in July 2016, with the possibility of renewal for a third year. Within the last decade, Amherst College has profoundly transformed its student body in terms of socioeconomic status, ethnicity, and nationality, among other areas. Today, nearly one-quarter of Amherst’s students are Pell Grant recipients; 43 percent of our students are domestic students of color. Our expectation is that the successful candidate will excel at teaching and mentoring students who are broadly diverse with regard to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender nationality, sexual orientation and religion.

The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester in his or her area of specialization (environmental policy, environmental law) and occasionally participate in a team-taught introductory course in environmental studies. Teaching in domestic and international policy is especially desired. A Ph.D. is required.

Executive Director of ESSR, University of Maryland, (College Park, MD)

The Executive Director is the principal environmental safety, sustainability and risk administrator of the university. The incumbent, reporting to the Vice President for Administration and Finance, is responsible for directing programs to assure a safe and healthy campus environment. The Executive Director provides strategic direction and oversight of environmental health and safety, research safety, Fire Marshal’s office and emergency management, risk and sustainability programs at the University of Maryland.

As the head of the Department of Environmental Safety, Sustainability and Risk (ESSR), the incumbent plans, directs and manages the staffing, services and budget for ESSR units; develops policies and implements programs to address regulatory requirements, related permits and licenses; works cooperatively across the university to address issues of common interest and concern; and serves as a senior leader in the Division of Administration and Finance.

Sustainable Dining Manager, Chartwells Higher Ed, (Hamilton, NY)

The Sustainable Dining Manager will promote overall sustainability in dining services and work to educate the community (especially students) on issues of local and sustainable food purchasing. Colgate’s Sustainable Food Systems Advisory Group developed a set of criteria for defining local and sustainable food based on the goal of purchasing local, community-based, and/or third-party certified food as a percentage of our overall food purchases. The manager will use these initial criteria to continue tracking food purchases with the intent to advance Colgate’s purchase of local and sustainable foods.
