The Director of Conference & Events provides managerial oversight and direction for the coordination and planning of the AASHE Annual Conference & Expo as well as logistical support for other meetings including workshops, retreats and other events. Specific duties include site visit planning, pre and onsite registration management, scheduling, vendor management, room management, budgeting, contract negotiation, Request for Proposal management, site research, and hotel negotiation. AASHE’s Annual Conference is a multi-faceted event that brings together more than 2,300 attendees to participate in pre and post conference workshops and tours plus two days of educational sessions with more than 900 presenters, an exhibit hall with more than 90 exhibitors and 150 volunteers.

Environmental Stewardship Assistant Vice Chancellor, UC Davis

ASSISTANT VICE CHANCELLOR – ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP is an essential leadership position necessary for creating and delivering the UC Davis of the 21st Century. The incumbent has primary responsibility and is accountable for three campus programs: (1) sustainability including waste reduction and recycling; (2) environmental planning, review and management, and (3) natural resource management and planning. While housed in Campus Planning, Delivery and Facilities, successful development, management, and implementation of these programs require: participation and integration across most administrative divisions (e.g., Student Affairs, Administration, and Research); involvement of students, faculty, and staff; and fostering relationships between administrative and academic programs. The incumbent functions independently to identify potential issues, develop possible solutions, propose campus policies, recommend actions to achieve program goals, implement approved actions, and manage related litigation. All three program areas are highly visible with off-campus constituencies. The Assistant Vice Chancellor represents the campus to the press, in public forums, and on committees organized by local government agencies including the City of Davis and the County of Yolo on these topics. The incumbent also coordinates litigation related to these topics for the campus. Incumbent is responsible for administering an annual operating budget of approximately $850,000. In addition the AVC is responsible for oversight of the budgets for campus environmental planning and review which varies but can exceed $1.0 million in some years.

Sustainability Coordinator for Operations, UNC Greensboro

The Sustainability Coordinator for Operations reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities and supervises an Education Specialist position. The Sustainability Coordinator for Operations works closely with directors and unit leaders in the establishment of sustainability programs and goals at operational areas including: utilities, recycling and waste reduction, design and construction, housekeeping, maintenance, grounds, purchasing, transportation, campus access, dining, foundation investments, information technology, and environmental health and safety. This position works in collaboration with the Academic Sustainability Coordinator in programs that promote strengthening the campus sustainability culture. The Sustainability Coordinator for Operations monitors progress towards achievement of UNCG’s Climate Action Plan and prepares the university’s sustainability STARS report on a periodic basis. This position is a member of the university’s Sustainability Council and provides regular reports to the council. This position represents UNCG at sustainability related events and is required to make presentations to a variety of audiences.
