2021 Summer Fellowship – Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics, City of Boston (Remote work/Boston, MA)

A unique opportunity for creative, curious, and entrepreneurial folks to work inside City government. We need people passionate about civic issues to work with communities and try something new.  Fellowship projects are as diverse as the fellows we have had. We’ve worked with traffic engineers, public health students, business, planning, and policy masters candidates, and sociology PhDs. If you have an interest in making Boston a healthy, thriving, innovative 21st-century City, this could be the place for you. You will be part of a small cohort of fellows drawn from across the country to help us explore, experiment, and evaluate new ideas, programs, and policies. At this time, we are planning for a remote fellowship experience.

Global Internship Program, International Finance Corporation (Various locations)

The IFC Global Internship Program (GIP) offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of IFC and the broader World Bank Group, and be a part of the largest private sector development institution in the world. Selected interns will be offered short-term temporary contracts for a minimum period of four weeks with IFC that can begin as early as May and end as late as October 31, 2021. Environmental Justice – Student Intern, State of Massachusetts (Boston, MA)

The intern will assist the Department’s Environmental Justice (EJ) Director and the Department’s EJ Team.

  • The intern will develop/create outreach material for the EJ Office to distribute to EJ Organizations.
  • The intern will schedule regular meetings with individuals of the EJ Team to establish a relationship and to discuss EJ activities, issues, and concerns across MassDEP’s bureaus, regions, and programs. The intern will report back to EJ Director and together we will discuss next steps.
  • The intern will conduct research to add to MassDEP’s EJ Organization list.
  • The intern will conduct research to add to MassDEP’s Alternative Media spreadsheet for use agency wide.
  • The intern will review, and complete lists of languages spoken in LEP EJ Populations as defined by the 2010 U.S. Census data to assist MassDEP with EJ activities.
  • The intern may also assist with coordination between MassDEP, the Executive Office of Energy & Environmental Affairs (EEA), other state agencies and external groups, (i.e., environmental advocacy and community organizations).
  • The intern may also contact GIS staff to assist with requests regarding EJ criteria statistics from MassDEP staff.
  • The intern will assist the EJ Director with coordinating MassDEP EJ Team meetings, draft meeting minutes, participate in EJ webinars and provide updates to EJ team members via email.

Within GAMMA, the Specialty team (GAMMA S) is a hybrid client-facing/consulting-support that leverages available tools and code bases to deliver powerful and specialized insights that help our clients tackle their most pressing business problems.

As a Senior Analyst in GeoAnalytics, you will be solving a variety of location-based analytical problems for our clients, driving your technical workstream in partnership with your case managers, and contributing to team business development activities. You will utilize your knowledge of geospatial data and analytics while using a variety of tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Python, and visualization/analytical platforms (ex. Tableau, Alteryx). You will leverage a range of techniques such as geospatial clustering, network analysis, location-based optimization and predictive analytics/modeling.
