Lab Manager, UC Berkeley Global Policy Lab (Berkeley, CA)

The Aerial History Project is a multi-year research initiative joint between GPL and colleagues at Stockholm University. The project aims to better understand how economic development and environmental change interact, for example, by understanding how climate change is affecting human migration in Africa, how natural disasters affect economic development in the Caribbean, and studying whether deforestation can be forecast on multi-decadal time scales. The project is digitizing, combining, and applying machine learning to analyze millions of historical aerial photographs collected around the world. The Aerial History Project was awarded an AI for Earth Innovation grant by Microsoft and National Geographic.

The new project/lab manager role is a full-time position suitable for bachelor’s degree recipients, preferably those with an interest in environmental studies and experience in an academic unit.

TIE-SEI Internships, Tufts Institute of the Environment + Stockholm Environment Institute (Somerville, MA/Remote)

Applications are currently being accepted for this paid internship with the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and Tufts Institute of the Environment (TIE). SEI is an international non-profit research and policy organization that tackles environment and development challenges. This unique opportunity allows Tufts students to work on a designated SEI research project as well as network with colleagues and leaders in the field through TIE activities. Interns will work on the USAID Regional Water and Vulnerable Environment Activity.

Sustainability Manager, Campus Services- Harvard University (Cambridge, MA)

The Sustainability Manager, reporting to the Managing Director, utilizes a change management framework with members of the University community to co-create, and drive implementation of, major University-wide initiatives and programs, including the University’s Sustainability Plan and Climate Action Plan.  The Sustainability Manager will focus on program management, planning, preparing content for, and staffing internal stakeholder groups and external partnerships focused on living lab priorities. To accomplish this, they will need to research technical solutions and propose innovative ideas on a wide range of topics, including the flagship Healthier Building Academy.  This position includes a strong focus on program and partnership development and management and governance, especially with Capital Project and Facilities leaders and their teams.  They will develop and execute comprehensive project plans and strengthen relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including senior leaders, faculty, and students. Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for envisioning and executing University-wide policies, programs, tools, and resources aimed at building a culture of sustainability on campus, identifying and developing living lab opportunities and institutionalizing best practices.
