Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Academic Programs, the Academic Programs Coordinator coordinates the Museum’s UCLA student-related academic programs. These academic programs include but are not limited to the Hammer Student Association, Hammer Interns, student professional development programs, and outreach to campus. The Hammer Student Association is an organization of undergraduates and graduates with Graphite, Events, and Communications committees that produce an annual art journal and organize up to four workshops and large events at the Hammer each year. Hammer Interns work in all departments and are recruited and scheduled through Academic Programs. They also participate in a series of professional development programs organized by the Hammer.

Responsibilities include coordinating all aspects of the Hammer Student Association under the oversight of the Assistant Director of Academic Programs such as organizing meetings, logistics, and events; and overseeing, archiving, and evaluating all student work. Other duties include coordinating administrative aspects of the Hammer Intern program including recruitment, training, evaluation, and scheduling, as well as organizing the professional development series. The Program Coordinator also assists the Assistant Director of Academic Programs with K-12 teacher professional development and school programs, leads public tours as needed and conducts major student recruitment and outreach on campus throughout the year. Major administrative duties include but are not limited to maintaining financial records for all student-related programs; preparing drafts, final correspondence, memoranda, reports, tables, and other documents; and assisting the Assistant Director of Academic Programs with administrative duties.

Job Requirements
Requirements: Minimum two years prior experience working in a cultural organization or institute of higher learning; prior experience in event planning and implementation; skills in student group leadership and excellent mediation and facilitation abilities; excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with artists, outside vendors, and other institutions, as well as diverse student, Museum and university staff population; excellent oral and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; ability to work weekends and evenings as needed. Undergraduate or graduate degree in art, art history, arts education, museum education, or a related field with a working knowledge of contemporary art strongly preferred. Teaching experience preferred.
