This position is ultimately responsible for the daily overall management and operation of the Greater Vernon Museum & Archives, including the supervision of its staff, volunteers, interns and student placements.

FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
Administration
– Directs, coordinates and manages all facets of activity at the museum and archives.
– Prepares, submits and maintains the annual operating and capital budgets for the museum, archives and satellite museums.
– Researches and prepares grant applications for a variety of funding agencies.
– Manages all personnel requirements for the museum and archives, including regular staff and contract positions.
– Oversees the procurement, design and distribution of marketing and advertising for the museum and archives.
– Represents the museum and archives to the public and is responsible for maintaining a high level of public trust for the institution.
Curatorial
– Ensures all facets of the museum and archives are operated within accepted museum guidelines and practices.
– Prepares operational policies governing the care of museum and archives collections.
– Recommends and establishes short and long-term visionary goals for the museum and archives, including exhibit development, educational programming, and collections acquisitions and disposal.
– Oversees the planning, development and installation of major exhibitions and displays in the museum and satellite museums.
– Oversees the writing, publication and distribution of the museum newsletter.
– Trains staff, volunteers and student interns in selected aspects of museum work.
