D24 Students Host Dental Workshop at Saint Francis House
Saint Francis House Dental Workshops
D24 students Alexis Alicea and Nikki Diehl recently volunteered at the Saint Francis House in Boston promoting oral health and distributing supplies such as over 200 toothbrushes! Read what Alexis and Nikki had to say about this amazing event!
“It has been a pleasure volunteering at the St. Francis House. Having the ability to bring oral health topics, education, and necessities such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss, has been a learning experience. The occupants and staff were always engaged, welcoming, and interested in learning more about oral health habits and their effects. This has made it an enjoyable experience because at the basis of our career in dentistry is communication. Learning to communicate with people from all walks of life helps bridge the gap in oral health care education and delivery of information. Being able to provide this service in a place where it is most needed to those that appreciate it, is fulfilling. TUSDM Public Health office has played an instrumental role in making this possible by helping, supplying, and supporting this mission to bring oral heath care education and necessities to those most in need.” – Alexis Alicea and Nikki Diehl D24s
