The Exhibition Coordinator assists the curatorial team on museum and school exhibitions. Relating to exhibitions, s/he creates and maintains checklists, assists in preparing text, producing catalogs, and performs other relevant duties as they arise. S/he works flexibly across the organization, helps in processing loan agreements and coordinates with registrars on matters pertaining to insurance and shipping of works. The coordinator corresponds with artists, architects, and lenders in a positive, professional manner—taking particular care to foster strong relationships with the diverse artist and architect members of the organization.
The coordinator also works closely with the organization’s membership committee to administer the election of new artist and architect members as well as to help in the planning and logistical support for our yearly induction ceremony.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
• BA or MA degree in art history
Qualifications:
• Outstanding time management skills
• Excellent written abilities and ease in verbal communication
• Proactive, anticipatory, positive attitude, and proven work ethic
• Experience developing arts programming
• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in a gallery or museum
• Attention to detail
• Proficiency in MS Office suite, Filemaker, Pages, and experience in the Adobe Creative Suite; Facility with both Mac and PC
• Flexible, adaptive, and team-oriented approach

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create and maintain illustrated checklists and other pertinent exhibition documents for museum and school exhibitions

• Assist in editing, writing, and production of texts (wall labels, signs, exhibition catalogs, letters to lenders, and initial press materials)

• Facilitate productive workflow between curators, conservator, and registrar, and actively communicate with other departments so that deadlines are met

• Aid in supervising crew of art handlers to ensure successful installation and de-installation of each exhibition

• Liaise with artists, architects, lenders, students, and faculty depending on exhibition focus and needs

• Foster strong relationships with the organization’s artist and architect members through exhibition-related communications

• Attend exhibition openings and public programs

• Take administrative lead on the organization’s member election process and play an active role in the planning and execution of an annual induction ceremony

• Help to communicate with other departments so that deadlines are met

• Help to create and oversee exhibition budgets

• Attend exhibition openings and public programs
