Innovative art gallery in Jamaica Plain seeks an Intern for Winter/Spring 2015 whose responsibilities will include the following duties:

  • Assisting with monthly exhibition installations, including preparing the space and hanging of artworks
  • Publicizing artist calls and events through social media
  • Researching new opportunities for PR outreach
  • Photographing exhibitions and maintaining online image catalog
  • Gallery Coverage at least one shift per week
  • Helping the Assistant Gallery Director with curatorial and press projects, as needed

Qualifications:
This is an excellent opportunity for a student who is working toward a degree in Studio Art or Art History (or a recent graduate) who would like to gain experience with exhibition installation and is eager to learn about the operation of an art gallery located within an active arts community. Ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible, organized, self-starter and dedicated. Strong writing skills and social media/marketing experience a plus. Candidates must be available for all installations (typically the evening of the first Tuesday of every month) and a weekly gallery shift (Saturday/Sunday afternoons).
