The museum educator is responsible for working with the members of the education department to assist with the development, implementation and delivery of education programming for children, adults and senior citizens. Background in art therapy and/or programming for audiences with special needs is a plus. This is a part-time position at 15 hours per week that is planned to increase to full-time status of 25 hours per week beginning July 1, 2015. This position reports to the Director of Education. Position begins March 2015.

Responsibilities:• Assists with planning, preparing and teaching programs for young children and senior citizens audiences.• Helps organize annual student and adult art shows.• Creates and implements art curriculum for audiences with special needs of all ages. • Coordinates mailing and distribution of school and children’s brochures.• Handles arrival and check in of all groups and other daily operations.• Collaborates with the education and curatorial departments to develop multidisciplinary programs designed to support the exhibits and attract visitors according to museum priorities.• Works select weekend public programs and participates in program outreach to schools and community groups.

Qualifications: Degree in museum education, special education, art therapy or related field. Experience in museum education. Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills. Collaboration, flexibility and teamwork are essential. This position involves some weekend work.
