Stage Tech/Performing Arts Production Internship

Description:
Stage Tech / Performing Arts Production : Interns work with the Production Coordinator, Master Carpenter, Master Electrician, House Sound Engineer, and house crew on all aspects of technical theatre, music, and films. This includes hands-on in all of the following areas – carpentry, lighting, sound, audio/visual, and running crew. You are not required to have a driver’s license.
Qualifications:
MASS MoCA seeks full-time interns for various departments. Spend any season in the culturally rich, naturally beautiful Berkshires, while gaining invaluable professional experience in the arts. Paid interns are given $100/week stipend and free housing within a block of the complex (cable, internet, and utilities included). Internship dates: January 11th, 2016 – May 23rd, 2016.

Graphic Design Internship

Description:
Graphic Design: Intern assists in day-to-day tasks of MASS MoCA’s in-house design studio, both digital and physical, working closely with the design, curatorial and marketing departments. Working directly with the Creative Director and Senior Designer, this position is 1/3 graphic designer, 1/3 production, and 1/3 jack- of-all-trades. Projects include (but not limited to) production and installation of vinyl exhibition and way finding signage, weekly advertisement design, digital archive management, vendor contact, daily museum photography, upkeep of website components, and general studio tasks. Intern should demonstrate enthusiasm, stamina, and willingness to work with a team. Excellent knowledge of Adobe CS4 or higher (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) required, with working to advanced knowledge of Flash. Excellent knowledge of digital photography hardware and intermediate photo editing skills.You are not required to have a driver’s license.

Description:
The Education Intern assists the Education Coordinator with administrative duties of the education department crucial to its success, and reflects a positive image of Fuller Craft Museum and its mission to the general public.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the administration of programs including but not limited to workshops, tours, outreach and special events, as well as contributing to the overall vision for Education Programs at Fuller Craft Museum.
  • Take registrations for tours and workshops; maintain files/records.
  • Work closely with the Education Coordinator to create and facilitate educational experiences for children and/or families to complement the Museum’s collection and exhibitions.
  • Deliver excellent customer service–is articulate and helpful and ensures a high-quality experience of students and visitors through thoughtful actions and words.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills, computer skills, communication skills, and ease with multitasking are all required. Experience leading art activities and/or developing curriculum materials is preferred. Applicants should be undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Education, Studio Art, Art History or Museum Studies. Can commit 8-15 hours per week.

Community Preservation Manager [Historic New England, Western New England]

Community Preservation Manager, Western New England

Description:
Limited Term/Full-Time (Two years/40 hours/week)

Location: Henry Sheldon Museum, Middlebury, Vermont

This position represents Historic New England in the western portion of New England, with focus on Vermont and Western Massachusetts. Works to share Historic New England vision, strategies, goals, accomplishments, and methods with partner organizations and current and potential donors and supporters. Serves as liaison to the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History under a formal alliance established for 9/2015-9/2017. Coordinates contacts between Henry Sheldon Museum staff and Historic New England teams to implement alliance programs. Cultivates prospects for the Historic New England easement program to fulfill annual goals. Monitors preservation needs and issues at Merwin House, a Historic New England property in Stockbridge, Mass. Identifies and implements approved community engagement partnership opportunities. Identifies potential donors, members, and funding sources and conveys information to development team.

Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Historic Preservation, Museum Studies, or Architectural History with at least seven (7) years of job-related experience. A Master’s degree in the listed fields is preferred. Requires fully competent computer skills including skilled use of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel spreadsheet functions, and experience with digital photography equipment and methods. This employee must be able to operate effectively in a team environment, where communication within and among teams is essential to success, and where information and projects come from various directions and must be managed in accordance with established priorities and strategic objectives. Ability to interact and communicate with staff orally, by video-conferencing and other electronic means, and in writing is essential. Ability to maintain communication with supervisor and with many teams and colleagues over considerable distance is essential. Requires exceptional customer service skills, and experience working with a broad and diverse public to build and nurture community partnerships. Ability to serve as an institutional spokesperson.

Work Environment:This position will be based at the Henry Sheldon Museum, Middlebury, Vermont, and will spend time in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and at Merwin House. The position requires periodic travel to Historic New England facilities in Waltham, Boston, Milton, or Haverhill, and regular travel to other locations throughout New England. A valid driver’s license, a personal automobile, and ability to drive are requirements of this position.
