Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Executive Assistant is an important administrative position in the museum, one that interacts daily with a wide breadth of constituents and works closely with the ICA’s senior management staff to prioritize museum initiatives with and for the Director. He/she will manage all aspects of the Director’s Office including maintaining a full and complicated meeting and event schedule and serving as a strategic, proactive and self-directed liaison to the Director, providing information, solving problems and acting as a contact for internal and external constituents both from the museum world and from Boston’s non-profit and for-profit leadership base. He/she will manage correspondence; communicate with Trustees, Overseers, donors, community leaders and staff. Coordinate travel arrangements for Director and organize cultivation and donor events with appropriate staff. Serve as liaison to Board of Trustees; plan and execute the Annual Board of Trustees Meeting as well as quarterly Board Meetings and committee meetings. Organize Trustee orientations, maintain donor files, and keep and distribute meeting minutes. He/she will manage budget process for department.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS: BA with studies in art and/or business, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of related work experience. Previous experience as an Executive Assistant strongly preferred.

Excellent professional writing and editing skills. Ability to organize and prioritize a complex agenda.

Ability to work under pressure of tight deadlines. Ability to anticipate, prioritize and resolve issues quickly. Participatory and adaptive work style; ability to receive feedback. Excellent interpersonal skills and sense of discretion; ability to collaborate and interact well with a diverse range of people. Ability to operate office equipment and general mobility throughout the building required. Full-time schedule is 40 hours per week on-site, occasional nights and weekends as required.

Description:
The ICA/Boston seeks a Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow with excellent research and writing skills and a specialization in modern and/or contemporary art to assist with the research, development, and writing for an upcoming ICA exhibition and accompanying publication and programs. The exhibition, Art in the Age of the Internet, 1989 – Todayis organized by Eva Respini, Barbara Lee Chief Curator, and examineshow the Internet has radically changed the field of art, especially in its production, distribution, and reception. The exhibition is comprised of a broad range of works across a variety of mediums—including painting, performance, photography, sculpture, and video—that all acknowledge and incorporate the extensive effects of the Internet in their realization. Themes explored in the exhibition include emergent ideas of the body and notions of human enhancement; possibilities for new subjectivities, communities, and virtual worlds; the Internet as a site of both surveillance and resistance; the circulation and control of images and information; and the aesthetics of corporate culture and branding. Throughout, the work in the exhibition addresses the Internet-age democratization of culture that comprises our current moment. The research fellow will work on all aspects of exhibition planning and development, including research, checklist and loan management, and coordinating a major publication. This is a two-year fellowship with anticipated dates of February 2016 – May 2018.

Qualifications:
Completed MA degree in Art History required with a specialization in modern and/or contemporary art. Students currently enrolled in a doctoral program preferred. Excellent research and writing skills. Candidates must be highly detail-oriented, accurate, self-motivated and possess strong verbal communication skills. Some paid travel may be required.

Description:
The ICA/Boston seeks a Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow with excellent research and writing skills and a specialization in modern and/or contemporary art to assist with the research, development, and writing for an upcoming ICA exhibition and accompanying publication. The exhibition is the first U.S. museum survey of the work of Mark Dion, organized by Ruth Erickson, Assistant Curator. Dion’s process-based work in sculpture, installation, drawing, and public art investigates the construction and display of knowledge about the natural world. Acting as traveler, historian, scientist, and artist, Dion has pioneered an influential model of artistic practice that draws together research, collaboration, and fieldwork. He works in response to specific sites and problems, developing provocative methods and inventive forms that often reframe the known or expose the unknown. This exhibition explores the methodologies and forms developed by Dion through a series of room-size installations, sculptures, and works on paper. The research fellow will work on all aspects of exhibition planning and development, including research, checklist and loan management, and coordinating a major publication. The fellowship approximately 18 months long with the anticipated dates of January 2016 – August 2017.
Qualifications:
Completed MA degree in Art History required with a specialization in modern and/or contemporary art. Students currently enrolled in a doctoral program preferred. Interest in interdisciplinary practices, the history of science, and sculpture preferred. Excellent research and writing skills. Candidates must be highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possess strong verbal communication skills. Some paid travel may be required.

Maker Lounge Assistant [Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, MA]

The Peabody Essex Museum’s dynamic and interactive makerspace, the Maker Lounge, is seeking a creative, individual to join our team for a temporary part-time appointment (6-9 months). The successful candidate will assist PEM in maintaining the quality of guest experiences in the Maker Lounge during peak activity times. In consultation with PEM staff, the Maker Lounge Assistant will supervise and assist visitors during operating hours and manage cleanliness in the lounge, recommend relevant programs and activities and oversee and coordinate all materials, set-up, and clean-up of the space. In addition, they will contribute to the implementation of large-scale programming events including a series of adult workshops, activities for the Week of Making and other large-scale programming (ie Lunar New Year, etc) and drop-in programs.

Qualifications:
Candidates must have the ability to engage and communicate with guests, administrative experience, and organizational skills. Knowledge of the maker movement or maker culture preferred. 3D Printing and CAD experience desired. A Bachelor’s degree, or enrollment in a college or university is required.

Executive Director [Forbes House Museum, Milton, MA]

Description:
The Forbes House Museum, a Milton, MA landmark since 1833, is seeking a new executive director as it prepares for transformational changes in its physical plant and community programming. The board is seeking a visionary leader inspired by the story of the Forbes family and its courageous engagement with the issues, challenges, and adventures of their times. Working with the board, the executive director will develop a new strategic plan that focuses on preservation and restoration of our physical facilities; conservation and interpretation of our collection to new audiences in Milton and beyond; and the development of relevant and exciting programming for contemporary audiences.

Key to the success of these endeavors will be a vitalized fundraising program, focused on both annual operations and major gifts to support phased renovation of the main museum building, and eventually, redevelopment of outbuildings not in current use. We are looking for someone whose talents and ambitions are a match for this extraordinary cultural and historic resource.

Five to ten years of progressive responsibility in leading a non-profit organization/program or a fund-raising program in a non-profit organization is required. Experience leading and supporting a volunteer board is highly desirable. Experience in or familiarity with museum operations and protocols is also a plus, but more important is the intellectual capacity to learn and absorb the mission and history of the Forbes museum and to write and speak about it with the power to enlist friends old and new in support of our work. Cultivation of donor prospects, soliciting them for gifts, and stewarding these relationships are at the heart of this role.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Plan and manage the annual operating budget.

2. Create, implement, and deliver results on the annual fundraising plan.

3. Develop the annual programming plan.

4. Manage and maintain the museum’s collections, including cataloging the holdings.

5. Serve as FHM’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public.

6. Supervise and collaborate with organization staff, including the current Assistant to the Director.

7. Together with the board, create and implement a new strategic plan for the museum.

8. Help plan and support board and committee meetings.

9. Oversee marketing, web and social media presence, and other communications efforts.

10. Review, approve and oversee contracts for services.

11. Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

· A bachelor’s degree; advanced degree welcome

· Transparent and high integrity leadership

· Non-profit leadership and hands-on fundraising/grant management experience

· Solid budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting

· Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation

· Strong written and oral communication skills

· Ability to interface with, engage, and develop diverse volunteer and donor groups

· Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff, including the current Assistant to the Director

· Strong public speaking ability
