Description

The National WWII Museum is currently seeking an Assistant Director for Digital Collections.  This position reports to the Director of Curatorial Services and is responsible for directing the digitization of the Museum’s collections and the subsequent management of these materials.  This position is responsible for digitizing the Museum’s accessioned collections of artifacts and archival materials and the entire oral history collection, as well as archival footage and photographs, digital exhibit media, and video lecture content.  The Assistant Director for Digital Collections works closely with the Museum Technologist, who chairs the Digitization Work Team, and serves as a key member of the work team.  This position also supervises two Processing Archivists.

The ideal candidate will have a Masters Degree from an ALA-accredited program with a concentration in archives management (required) and at least five years experience in a related field.  In addition, demonstrated knowledge of collections management systems (KE Emu preferred), proven success in implementing digital asset management solutions and workflows in a complex environment, and an understanding of legal issues around digital asset use are required.  Finally, supervisory experience and strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must.
